SINGAPORE, 19 August 2026 — The Digital Education Council (DEC) and Instructure today announced a partnership to collaborate on initiatives with the goal of supporting positive change in higher education through innovation, knowledge sharing, and shared expertise. DEC is a global community of practice for education innovation and Instructure is the leading learning ecosystem and maker of Canvas LMS.

The partnership is focused on supporting the global higher education community and advancing understanding at the cutting edge of teaching and learning.

Supporting Collaboration Across Higher Education

Higher education institutions are examining how digital platforms and artificial intelligence can better support students and educators through new approaches to teaching. This work requires open exchange between institutions and practical resources that can inform institutional decisions.

Through the partnership, DEC and Instructure will engage institutions and experts in these discussions, drawing on shared experience to explore priorities across teaching and learning and support effective implementation.

"Throughout my 27 years in education, I have learned that the most honest, collaborative conversations are always the most useful," said Melissa Loble, Chief Academic Officer at Instructure. "The Digital Education Council convenes that exact kind of global exchange. We joined to contribute the insights we gather from supporting millions of learners, educators and institutions worldwide, and to help turn those dialogues into practical, evidence-backed strategies that help schools close the readiness gap and support the new learner."

“Universities are making important choices about the future of teaching and learning,” said Alessandro Di Lullo, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Education Council. “Good decisions depend on evidence and a clear understanding of institutional needs. Our partnership with Instructure creates a strong basis for that work and will support initiatives that are useful to institutions across our global community.”

Instructure works with institutions and educators around the world to support digital teaching and learning. Its participation will bring practical experience into DEC’s global discussions and take part in discussions that inform DEC's work with the wider higher education community.

Partnership Activities

Through the partnership, Instructure and DEC will combine their respective vantage points across the higher education market, informing Executive Briefings and enriching discussion within the thematic Working Groups and DEC Global Summit.

“Shared expertise is most valuable when it leads to real-world outcomes,” said Danny Bielik, President of the Digital Education Council. “By understanding cutting-edge practices around the use of learning technologies, this partnership will help inform approaches that institutions can apply today, as the need for reform is urgent.”

Further details on upcoming initiatives will be shared in the coming months.
