Classifying AI Use in Higher Education
In this Executive Briefing, we will explore one of the core pillars of the DEC AI Governance Framework: AI Usage. The briefing aims to provide institutions with benchmarking data on global AI usage classification practices in education, guiding them in effectively categorising and managing their AI use.
This briefing will provide an overview of the key AI applications currently regulated by institutions and how institutions categorise AI usage into five categories: open use, use with disclosure, use with compliance, cautious use, and prohibited use. Our experts will also discuss the criteria institutions use to classify AI applications, such as data risk. In this briefing, we will introduce the DEC AI Usage Taxonomy for Higher Education, which outlines various AI use cases and proposes criteria for classifying AI usage within institutions.
