Do students actually want AI in their learning journey, and if so, what type of interaction with AI do they expect? Let's take one step back before considering AI integration into higher education.
The panellists will present key insights from our research on student preferences in regards to their university using AI. The panellists will also explore what type of AI integration and tools are correlated to higher satisfaction and preceived value. Finally, they will discuss effective AI strategies that align with student expectations, ultimately facilitating a more beneficial adoption of AI in higher education.

About the DEC Global Summit 2024
Over 100 global leaders gathered in Singapore on 5 - 6 November 2024 as part of the proceedings at the DEC Global Summit 2024, hosted at Singapore Management University.
With leaders representing over 20 countries, the DEC Global Summit focussed on addressing global challenges and exploring actionable strategies for the integration of digital and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in higher education and skills development.
Significant Developments and Strategic Takeaways from the 2024 Summit:
- DEC 30 Global Challenges in Higher Education Document: DEC identified 30 pressing challenges — ranging from ethical AI integration to aligning curriculum with industry needs — that call for proactive solutions from educators, policymakers, and industry leaders worldwide.
- Joint Communiqué for Responsible AI and Sustainable Education: 61 representatives from leading institutions have signed the Digital Education Council Joint Communiqué to commit to advancing AI and sustainable innovation.
- ‘AI Idiots’ vs. Augmented Workforce Industry Roundtable: Industry and universities came together to stress the need for governance reforms to move beyond technical skills and promote analytical abilities and creativity. A whitepaper summarising the session will be released in January 2025.
